Linking Roots Consulting is owned and operated by two women who come from different life experiences, faiths, and professional backgrounds. With extensive experience in education and communication, we bring proven skills in breaking down complex ideas, engaging diverse audiences, and creating clear, impactful messages. Susannah Gordon-Messer, PhD

Co-Founder

Susannah brings a strong background in education, program design, and partnership development. She has led a National Science Foundation project at the Maine Mathematics and Science Alliance, directed the Ci2 Concept Research/MIST Lab at the University of Southern Maine, and helped create innovative learning experiences at MIT’s Education Arcade. Susannah specializes in developing and facilitating programs that spark connection, with a focus on evaluation and impact measurement to ensure meaningful, lasting change. Outside of work, she serves on the board of the Portland Wheelers and enjoys spending time with her family - often in their garden or exploring local trails.

Leyla Hashi

Co-Founder

Leyla is a seasoned communications specialist with over a decade of experience in elevating organizational visibility and impact. Her expertise extends beyond traditional marketing; she excels in developing and executing multi-faceted strategies and comprehensive plans to enhance community engagement. Leyla’s skills include crafting impactful online and offline marketing campaigns, building meaningful connections with diverse audiences, and driving significant fundraising efforts. Known for her ability to improve media presence and promote inclusivity, Leyla is committed to helping organizations meaningfully engage their stakeholders. In her personal time, she enjoys exploring new hobbies and spending time outdoors.
